Hyman Goodman began to collect rags in Western Massachusetts in 1898. He built his business on the foundation of the highest integrity and reliability in the service of his customers. Integrity and service reliability became the cornerstone to his success and the success of the generations that followed him.

Today, in its fifth generation, Northstar continues, in the tradition of the Hyman Goodman Company, to provide superior customer service and foster strong partnerships with its suppliers and customers. Northstar Group also offers the consultation and problem solving capabilities that result in significant improvements to its clients. By devising innovative ways to sort waste generation and monitor the profitability of the various grades of sorted secondary fiber, Northstar reports to its customers the continually improving profit margin on their by-product. Northstar builds ISO quality control standards into the client's customized Standard Operating Procedures as it strives to improve the quality of the waste management procedures for each client's unique operation.

When our clients' employees begin to treat their waste as a valuable commodity and we can measure the improvement in their processes, we have succeeded in providing an extremely valuable service. This translates into a high quality, trade marked product with superior marketability to the customer of that recycleable. Northstar has established strong, dependable relationships with paper mills and various end users of plastics, fabric & foam and aluminum to insure a steady market for our clients' waste materials.

Our vision is to provide a full service waste management system to our clients, to create the greatest profit margin for them through the development of a highly refined waste stream from their by-product and maintain the most dependable and reliable network for marketing of the output.
